Dear Family, Friends, and Community businesses:

My name is Derrick Cooper, and I am the Founder/President of this amazing Greater Los Angeles inner city youth academy.

The L.A. City Wildcats Youth Academy is a very strong organization located in South Los Angeles that has provided a quality service to the community for over 19 years. Our programs have supported, mentored, and successfully motivated our student-athletes and performers to not only discover and refine their individual talents, but to also graduate from high school and attend college. Our academy was also the foundation for NBA Players Nick Young (L.A. LAKERS) and James Harden (HOUSTON ROCKETS).

The L.A. City Wildcats basketball program has launched a full court pressure effort in fundraising for the Fall 2016 season so that we can better support our Academic Tutoring, Boys and Girls Basketball, Cheer and Dance, and Drum Line programs. In an effort to offset costs shouldered by our student-athletes and performers, we are asking for your financial support by donating to our youth academy.

My staff, coaches, team managers, and I foster an environment of personal and social responsibility. Participants are expected, therefore, to give their best as student-athletes and performers and as members of their respective communities. We know that cultivating and supporting this work ethic will allow our youth to be very competitive in AAU Travel Basketball events and upcoming competitions, in their academic achievement, and in their lives in general.

We ask for you to be a supporting member of our village by helping us continue our tradition of community pride and hard work through becoming an honored donor. The L.A. City Wildcats must raise $10,000.00 by September 27, 2016, and all we need is 216 people to donate between $5.00 and $100.00 for our Youth Academy Quarterly Fundraiser. Your donations will allow us to participate in upcoming spring and summer leagues, tournaments, parades and competitions, and to buy much needed equipment. And significantly, your donations will help student-athletes and performers who cannot afford the expenses of our traveling events. As an expression of gratitude, when you become a donor, your name will be added to our website as a sponsor contributor.

For your convenience, you can donate online through Paypal on this page. Please note that contributions of any amount are welcome and can be donated anonymously. Your contribution is also tax deductible because the L.A. City Wildcats is a 501(c)3 non-profit youth organization.
